Zero-edge odds are not a standalone wager. You must first make Pass, Don’t Pass, Come, or Don’t Come. The combined edge depends on how much odds you take and whether it is measured per total action or per resolved decision.
Practical framework

A simpler way to play

Fewer wager types make the cost easier to understand.

Step one

Choose a line side

Pass/Come and Don’t Pass/Don’t Come are the core lower-edge wagers.

Step two

Add odds deliberately

Odds reduce the blended edge per dollar wagered but increase total money exposed and variance.

Step three

Price every extra bet

Center-table propositions resolve quickly and commonly carry double-digit edges.

Why the denominator matters

The Pass line’s 1.414% is measured per initial Pass wager. If you add true-odds money, expected loss from the combined position does not rise on the odds portion, but the total amount wagered and result swings do. “House edge,” “edge per roll,” and “edge per total action” are not interchangeable.

Field rules vary

If both the 2 and 12 pay only 2:1, the edge is 5.556%. When one pays 2:1 and the other pays 3:1, it falls to 2.778%. If both pay 3:1, the wager is mathematically fair before any other rule modification. Read the printed layout rather than assuming every Field bet is identical.

Method note

Edges are derived from the 36 equally likely two-dice combinations and the stated payouts. Rounded figures are displayed.
